About the Competition Commission of India

The Competition Commission of India (CCI) is a statutory body established under the Competition Act, 2002 to promote and sustain competition in Indian markets, protect consumer interests, and ensure freedom of trade. Established on 14 October 2003, CCI is responsible for preventing practices that have an appreciable adverse effect on competition in India.

About the Internship

The Competition Commission of India (CCI) is inviting applications for its Legal Internship Programme. The internship provides law students with practical exposure to competition law and the functioning of India’s competition regulator through research and policy-oriented assignments.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must be:

  • Students in the second or third year of a 3-year LL.B. programme; or
  • Students in the fourth or fifth year of a 5-year integrated LL.B. programme (including those who have completed the third year and are entering the fourth year); or
  • LL.M. students.

Additional Qualifications

Applicants must:

  • Be Indian Nationals.
  • Be enrolled in a recognized university or institution.
  • Have exposure to Competition Law.
  • Not have secured a placement at the time of application.

Duration

  • The internship is normally for one month, commencing on the first working day of the month.
  • Candidates seeking an internship for 2–3 calendar months may also apply with a recommendation from their respective university/college.

Stipend

₹15,000 per month (Honorarium)

Number of Seats

15 interns per month

Certificate

Interns who successfully complete the internship to the satisfaction of their assigned mentor will receive an electronic certificate from the Competition Commission of India.

How to Apply?

Interested candidates must submit their application in the prescribed format (Annexure) along with:

  • A recommendation from the competent authority of their academic institution.
  • A Statement of Purpose (approximately 200 words) outlining the topic and objectives of the proposed study.
