About the Job
Sagar Chandra & Associates is inviting applications for the position of Associate – Intellectual Property & Data Protection.
Eligibility
- 1–3 years of relevant experience in trademark prosecution and data protection/privacy.
- Good understanding of Indian trademark practice and applicable data protection laws.
- Prior experience in a law firm or IP practice would be preferred.
- Exposure to international trademark prosecution and coordination with foreign associates would be preferred.
- Strong drafting, research, and analytical skills.
- Ability to independently manage assigned matters and timelines.
Responsibilities
- Handle end-to-end domestic and international trademark prosecution, including searches, applications, examination reports, hearings, oppositions, renewals, assignments, and other prosecution matters.
- Conduct trademark searches and advise on trademark availability, conflicts, and prosecution strategy across Indian and international jurisdictions.
- Assist with international trademark filings and prosecution, including coordination with foreign associates and handling Madrid Protocol matters.
- Draft and review trademark-related documents, responses, notices, affidavits, and client correspondence.
- Assist with IP portfolio management, including monitoring applications, deadlines, and prosecution matters across jurisdictions.
- Advise on and assist with data protection and privacy matters, including compliance with applicable data protection laws and regulations.
- Review and draft privacy policies, data processing agreements, consent notices, and other data protection documentation.
- Assist clients with data protection compliance assessments, contractual requirements, and implementation of privacy frameworks.
- Conduct legal research and prepare practical, business-oriented advice on IP and data protection matters.
- Coordinate with clients and internal/external stakeholders on ongoing matters.
