About NITI Aayog

NITI Aayog (National Institution for Transforming India) is the premier policy think tank of the Government of India. It plays a central role in driving sustainable development and promoting cooperative federalism. The organization operates under the leadership of the Hon’ble Prime Minister as Chairperson, with key cabinet ministers—Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh, Nirmala Sitharaman, and Narendra Singh Tomar—serving as Ex-Officio Members. Suman Bery currently serves as the Vice Chairperson.

About the Internship

The NITI Aayog Internship Scheme offers students and research scholars a unique opportunity to engage with various verticals, divisions, and cells within the organization. Selected candidates will gain hands-on experience working alongside policy experts and will contribute to India’s policy landscape.

Aim

To provide selected interns with firsthand exposure to the operations of the Indian government and its developmental strategies through involvement in ongoing work at NITI Aayog.

Objective

This initiative aims to connect young academic minds with policymaking processes, allowing interns to contribute through research-based policy inputs such as data analysis, briefing notes, and policy papers.

Eligibility

Applicants must be bona fide students from recognized institutions in India or abroad and meet one of the following criteria:

• Undergraduate students who have completed or appeared for 2nd-year/4th-semester exams and have scored at least 85% in Class 12.

• Postgraduate students who have completed or appeared for 1st-year/2nd-semester exams or are pursuing research/Ph.D., with a minimum of 70% in undergraduate studies.

• Recent graduates awaiting admission to higher studies (within 6 months of final result declaration) may also apply if their cumulative graduation/PG score is 70% or more.

Minimum: 6 weeks
Maximum: 6 months
(Note: No certificate will be issued for incomplete internships.)
