About the Organiser
North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU) is a Central University established in 1973 by an Act of Parliament, located in Shillong, Meghalaya. It has three campuses and is recognised for academic excellence and research, particularly in Northeast India.
The Department of Law, NEHU Shillong, established in 2005, offers B.A. LL.B. (Hons.), LL.M., and Ph.D. programmes. It emphasises academic rigor, clinical legal education, and practical advocacy skills, fostering a strong mooting culture.
About the Competition
The 3rd North-Eastern Hill University National Moot Court Competition, 2026, aims to engage law students with contemporary legal issues through research, drafting, and oral advocacy. Hosted by the Department of Law, NEHU Shillong, it encourages critical analysis and collaboration among participants nationwide.
Eligibility
Open to bona fide students enrolled in a regular three-year or five-year LL.B. or LL.M. programme at institutions recognised by the Bar Council of India.
Only one team per recognised university, law school, or college may participate.
Each team must consist of two or three members.
Registration Details
Registration opens: July 28, 2026
Registration closes: August 28, 2026
Participants must register online through the official link provided by the organisers.
Fee and Accommodation
Registration fee: ₹1,500 per team
Complimentary accommodation and meals provided to participants qualifying for the physical rounds, arranged at the University Guest House.

Winning Team: ₹50,000
Runner-Up Team: ₹25,000
Best Speaker: ₹11,000
Best Memorial: ₹11,000
Best Researcher: ₹8,000
