About the Job
NLSIU, in collaboration with Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), has established the HAL Defence Public Sector Chair in Business Laws to recognize excellence in teaching and research in business laws related to the defence sector. The Chair aims to produce high-quality research, strengthen pedagogy, engage in public policy dialogue, and attract world-class academics.
This Chair was established in 2012 through an endowment from HAL to expand teaching and research in areas including contracts management, defence procurement, dispute settlement, and environmental compliance.
Role/Position
- Associate Professor or Assistant Professor
- Vacancies: 1 (Unreserved)
- Pay Scale: Level 13A as per VII CPC / Level 10 as per VII CPC
- Appointment: Contract basis for 5 years, extendable at the University’s discretion
Eligibility
Qualifications are prescribed as per Sections I and II.1 of Appendix A of the official notification.
Roles and Responsibilities
Teaching
- Deliver undergraduate and postgraduate courses
- Supervise student assignments, submissions, and theses as required
- Evaluate students through examinations, presentations, and assignments
Research
- Contribute to designing and expanding the research agenda of the Chair
- Publish in academic journals, books, and media platforms
- Develop research proposals and grant applications
- Organize guest lectures, public talks, and panel discussions
- Develop training programs relevant to contracts, dispute resolution, and negotiations in the defence sector
- Conceptualize and organize an annual conference on defence sector laws
- Participate in stakeholder meetings and contribute to policy and reform dialogues
Administrative
- Serve on university committees and provide institutional services
General Conditions
- Foreign nationals, OCI, NRI, and PIO candidates may apply; appointment subject to necessary visa approvals
- Possessing minimum qualifications/experience does not guarantee interview calls
- Qualifications should be from recognized universities/institutions
